The quick guide
Gloss looks like fresh paint and is the easiest to care for. Satin has a soft sheen that shows body lines without glare. Matte is completely flat and the most dramatic, but needs the gentlest washing. Pick the finish first, then the colour.
Gloss
Gloss film reflects light like paint, so bright colours pop. Our bright yellow Tesla Model Y and baby blue Mercedes-Benz A-Class are both gloss. It is the most forgiving finish to wash and the easiest to keep looking new.
Satin
Satin sits between gloss and matte: a low sheen that follows every crease of the body. Our satin black Tesla Model 3 is the example. It looks expensive and modern, and it hides light swirls better than gloss.
Matte
Matte is flat with no shine at all, which makes a car look like it was carved. Our stealth grey BMW M4 and matte green BYD Sealion 7 show how strong it looks. Matte needs care: no waxes or polishes, and spots should be wiped off soon so they do not leave marks.
Light matters in Singapore
Strong midday sun washes out pale colours and makes dark gloss colours show every swirl. Look at samples outdoors, not only under shop lights, before you decide. We are happy to show you finished cars in our photos and on our Facebook page.
Care by finish
- Gloss: normal hand wash, a film-safe detailer spray is fine.
- Satin: hand wash, avoid polishes and wax, which can add uneven shine.
- Matte: hand wash with matte-safe products only, never polish, and clean droppings quickly.
Questions
Is matte wrap hard to maintain?
It needs more care than gloss: hand wash with matte-safe products, no waxing or polishing, and clean bird droppings quickly. Done right, it keeps its flat look.
Which wrap finish hides scratches best?
Satin and matte hide light swirls better than gloss, because there is less reflection to show them.
